Bob Ellis - Head JV Coach: The 2008 baseball season will be Coach Ellis' 2nd year with
Highland Springs. Coach Ellis has been coaching baseball since 1994 with Sandston
Youth and Sandston Babe Ruth. Over the past five seasons he has coached the 16 - 18
year old team in Sandston. He is currently the Assistant District III Commissioner for
Babe Ruth Baseball. He has served as the President of Sandston Babe Ruth for the
past eight years and is a certified Umpire for Babe Ruth. Coach Ellis recently retired
from the Virginia Air National Guard after thirty one years of service. Coach Ellis and
his wife Cathy have been married for thirty years. They have one daughter recently
graduated from VCU and one son who is a junior at VCU. Coach Ellis' son played
baseball and volleyball for HSHS from 2002 - 2005.
Gerald Glasco - Varsity Assistant Coach - Outfielders: The 2008 baseball season will
be the 3rd year for Coach Glasco at Highland Springs. Last year, Coach Glasco focused
heavily on the outfielders, which he will do again in 2008. In 2004, Coach Glasco
coached football (outside linebackers) at Virginia State University. While attending
VSU, Coach Glasco was a four year starter and two year captain on the football team.
Coach Glasco earned numerous academic and athletic awards throughout college
finishing it off with a cum laude degree from VSU, graduating with a 3.64 overall GPA. A
native of Newark, NJ, Coach Glasco attended high school in Chesepeake, VA at Oscar
Smith H.S., where he was a standout outfielder in baseball. Coach Glasco teaches
Special Education at HSHS.
John Lindsey - JV Assistant Coach: The 2008 baseball season will be Coach Lindsey's
2nd year with Highland Springs. Coach Lindsey will primarily work with the JV
Outfielders. Coach Lindsey has been involved with Youth Baseball for several years.
Coach Lindsey is also the President of Sandston Youth Football League, with this
being his 6th season.
